Tablecloths=Trés Trés Cool

Deviating from the myraid of puffer vests/parkas/scarves/gloves usually spoken about this time of year, I wanted to say something about a recent resort show by Louis Vuitton. (hellooo its Marc jacobs behind the whole thing, its gotta be great)This dress in particular is one of my favorites and is featured in the recent To Catch a Thief/Monaco/Grace Kelly-esque ads. The prim & bright stripes contrast well with the chic tablecloth-ish full skirt. An uber flattering silohuette with the tan waist-cinching belt doesn't hurt either.

You're A Shining Star, No Matter Who You Are

Obsessing over these three totally different yet all totally amazing uses of sparkle, sequins, and shimmer. What girl doesn't love a nice sequin and two wristfulls of shiny gold bangles? Sometimes the cold and earthy tones can seem menacing when your mood is more exuberant, and by throwing on a gold piece, be it jewelry or clothing, any chic look looks that much more classic and glamorous. Personally, I never go out without a nice gold cocktail ring adorning a finger. Don't get me wrong, silver is must, but gold always makes an elegant statement.

Dynamic Duos

Since this blog is essentially a collaboration of two friends, I would like to take a moment to depict some of my favorite stylish street duos. I probably have hundreds of street photos saved on my computer from various blogs and I've realized that some of the greatest photos are the ones of friends. Not only do you get double the style and fabulosity, but I also just love getting that momentary glimpse into the genuine relationships of friends with a shared love of fashion, it's like looking into a diary.
Favorite aspects of these photos: The shearling/leather jacket nonchalantly draped over the shoulder in the first. The hats in the second (I have issues finding good hats and am on a constant search). The perfect matching in the third (red lips, red coat, red shoes; beige blouse, beige coat, beige shoes). The fur/wedges combo in the fourth feels especially cozy. The socks with heels, adorable turbans, and playful facial expressions in the fifth. Last, just the entire essence of everything in the sixth photo - from that hat, to the green bag, to the knit, to the blonde curls, to the polka dots; I am beyond obsessed.
Ciao, Au revoir, Adios,

Recent Obsessions

1. A new discovery from TJ's. . .super delicious and authentically minty.
2. My sister's triumphantly pink tutu always manages to cheer me up.
3. A recent jem I found at Forever 21. . .although the last time I wore velvet was probably at the Christmas musical at age six, this feels completley interesting and current.

4. On a recent excursion to J. Crew, my mother kindly bought me this little pack of mini Essie nail polishes and I have tried almost every color. My favorite so far is the orangey-red which is called Clambake.

 5. In Forever 21 the other day I heard this song and used the nifty Shazam app on my phone which (magically) deciphers the song it hears. . .anyways this song was playing and I've been listening to it on repeat this week.

Oh Christmas Lights, Keep Shining On

Only 18 days until Christmas! We're getting our tree this weekend, and I couldn't be more excited. I just had to post some festive yet glamorous photos of one of my favorite models and send on some holiday spirit. Cheesy, I know, but it's that time of year.

Favorite Things December

1. A Good Shoe Find

I found these vintage Steve Madden heels today and was overjoyed.
Normally, I'm a little apprehensive about second hand shoes, but these were in
impeccable condition and looked basically brand new. The leather is shiny and
perfect and I absolutely love the cream on black combo.
Such a steel, price tag: $24
2. Snuggles With Stella
Truth is, no one will love you as consistently as a puppy does.
Stella, the most recent addition to my family, is 5 months old and
the most energetic (and affectionate as evidenced
by the licking in the photo) dog I know.
3. Great Expectations
It doesn't rain in southern California... yet it actually did this weekend.
I highly recommend this book to pass the time indoors on a cold day.
4. A Successful Haircut & A Saint Bracelet
I cut off a lot of my hair on friday and felt so much better without the heavy weight.
The bracelet is my moms that my best friends mom gave her, and I always borrow it.
5. This Song
Besides being one of my favorite songs of all time, the video for The Blues Are Still Blue is so cute. Caution: this song is always stuck in my head and will probably be in yours as well after watching this video.

6. Friends With Similar Senses of Humor (6 Favorite Things In One)
In my group of friends, birthdays are always a big deal. As the year begins to come to a close, I realize how much fun all of the festivities have been  in 2010 and how extremely grateful I am to have 6 best friends who care enough to make each special day a huge and always exciting ordeal. Whether it's Aloha Ali, Teen Mom, New Years, and even White Trash themed escapades, we always have the funniest and most random experiences when a birthday comes around. These girls, they keep me young :)

Throwback to Now

The ever gorgeous Gabby
Vibrant nail polish adds flair
The juxtaposition of a menswear vest and a dark floral dress is unexpected
The addition of these cat-eye glasses (which are totally having a moment by the way) completes this modern, yet faintly nostalgic look
