So I've decided to turn matchmaker for a quick sec. . .I don't know if you've thought of this but sometimes I think about which designer I would date if they swung the other way/weren't taken. Call me crazy, but think of the perks! Not only are you the man-in-power's muse/inspiration/reason to live but you also get to own whichever piece of art that tickles your fancy. With that, we will begin.

Pardon my bluntness, but these are orgasmic. I feel like these are all of the best parts of a Sofia Coppola/Marie Antoinette world mixed with everything else naughty and nice/edgy girly that I love. I couldnt be more obsessed... Wildfox has truly outdone themselves. Now I want some blue high tops.

One Voice in a Million

There truly is nothing better than the perfect combination of good music, beautiful fashion, and inspiring people. This video, depicting Natasha Bedingfield's latest single Stripe Me, is probably one of my favorite music videos of all time. Not only is she naturally beyond gorgeous with the stark blonde hair and high cheek bones, but she brings in the coolest looks from military, to native, to lace, to bejeweled face paint, and even a nice mud covered white dress. Though quite similar sounding to her other songs (just as bubble gum poppy as Pocketful of Sunshine and Unwritten...) it stands out to me as being a lot deeper and more mature than her old hits. The message is simple - it's really what you do and say that make you who you are, with everything material stripped away it's really all we have.

Pink Lady

In honor of my (almost) 5 year old sister's day of birth tommorow, I've decided to provide some rosa-flavored inspiration. . .(for all of you non-Spanish speakers rosa = pink in English) My sister is very opinionated, feisty,sweet,bossy and enthusiastic all at the same time, and we say that pink is her color, although she hasn't ever stated this fact out loud. Call it gender profiling or unfair assumption, or whatever else you want but she doesn't complain about the pink ice cream/cake/presents. Although not every item here is in-yo-face bubblegum pink, I think all of these things add that sense of celebration/enthusiasm that pink exudes even if you are one of those cool kids who only wears black and/or thinks pink is for overgrown kids and Barbies. So I will end will a not-so-surreptitious Happy Birthday to Camille!

Cool and Collected

 I was attempting to make a "favorite pieces" post, but after putting them all together I realized that I chose all cool and simple colors that seemed quite cohesive together. I love how a lot of these are classic and basic yet they all have a unique/beautiful twist to them that make them anything but boring. The Proenza bag has been popping up literally everywhere on the blogsphere lately and I cant help but fall completely in love with it, it comes in over 5 color combos and I am seriously obsessed with them all. It's only $1,995... sounds reasonable right?

Going with the theme, this song is undeniably chill and hypnotic, though quite possible to passionately sing along to. 

Mel-odramatic Genius

So in my World Cinema class we are watching A Year of Living Dangerously with young (super attractive) Mel Gibson, the incredible Linda Hunt and Sigourney Weaver; who is so pretty though not in the scary plastic surgery/glamazon way that's shamefully everywhere today. We didn't finish it in class during the week but I was so engaged in it I had to finish it when I got home and luckily it was on Netflix Watch Instantly.Made in 1982 and Oscar-winning, its romantic and incredibly suspenseful at the same time. It's neccesary to ignore all preconcieved notions about how disgusting Mel Gibson is now as an old man, and let yourself be swept away with how gorgeous he is in the movie as a 20-something. When I wasn't sighing over the sight of Mel Gibson in a tuxedo, I noticed the simple genius of Sigourney's clothes. . .meant to withstand tropic weather / and a little safari inspired, they retain a classic, flattering shape.

If you haven't seen this I strongly recommend either renting it or viewing it on Netflix. . .as my World Cinema teacher said before we started watching this; everyone should have a year of living dangerously. Though Indonesian political turmoil,violent revolution and armed guards are not required.

Even if you're only somewhat of a Sex And The City fan you know that none other than the Carrie Bradshaw NYC queen of all things beautiful, outlandish, and fabulous Sarah Jessica Parker has become head of design house Halston Heritage as of one year ago. The line, super famous in its heyday and sold in 1973 (bouncing around designers and owners 8 times until landing on Parker), will finally be premiered in Fall 2011 as SJP's first signature collection. The pieces are rumored to be a step away from the minimalist bright dresses featured in the past and have been changed to bear a more modern sophisticated feel. She is so beyond beyond amazing as not only a fashion icon but also an actor, producer (her show Work of Art was all I watched last summer), and mother of two, and I cannot wait to see what she has in store for Halston.
